STEPHANIE ALLAIN | Founder
Stephanie Allain is the founder of Homegrown Pictures, a Film & TV production company dedicated to creating content by and about women and people of color with authentic stories, depictions and representation. Allain, who made history in 2020 when she became the first Black woman to produce the Academy Awards (for which she was Emmy-nominated), has produced Hustle & Flow, Something New, Peeples, Beyond The Lights, Dear White People, French Dirty, Burning Sands, Juanita and Really Love. Her films have been nominated for numerous awards with wins from Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Film Independent Spirit Awards, NAACP and others. In television she executive produced four seasons of Justin Simien’s Netflix series, Dear White People, and is currently in production on her first documentary Untitled Billy Preston. Her first book, I’M IN CHARGE! was acquired in an auction by Candlewick Press. The picture book, slated to be published in Spring 2024, models for children how they can take charge of their bodies, voices and choices.
GABRIELLE EBRON | Director of Development
Gabrielle Ebron graduated with honors from the Film Studies program at Wesleyan University, where she won the Akiva Goldsman Prize in Screenwriting for her feature script, Like Mother, Like Daughter. After moving to Los Angeles, she joined Homegrown Pictures as an assistant where she began to learn the ropes from seasoned producer Stephanie Allain. With an eye for authentic stories, she was promoted within the year to Creative Executive, where she is charged with finding young voices and developing current projects. She helped bring in Homegrown’s first Asian American project, and her first TV show, Plainview, is on the fast track to production.
CLAIRE BROOKS | Director of Production
Claire Brooks is an advocate for emerging filmmakers and is passionate about shepherding independent and studio projects from the “big bold idea” phase through their final delivery.Most recently, Claire produced SAMSON, an indie feature directed by Ruth Du and written by David Harry Yoon, and TRESPASSERS, a short film written and directed by Robin D’Oench for Hulu / 20th Century Digital Claire spent two years producing films for the Netflix Original Indie Film team and is responsible for architecting their newly launched Emerging Filmmaker Initiative alongside Jeremy Kipp Walker (Half Nelson, The Big Sick). Claire is a graduate of the New York University and the Columbia University MFA Film program, where she was a CUFF Screenwriting Fellow, Carla Kuhn Fellow, and Michael Hausman “FilmHaus” Award Recipient.
